Understanding Food Safety Certifications in Malaysia

Ensuring Safe and Quality Food with MS 1514:2022 GMP
The Department of Standards Malaysia (JSM), under the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI), has created MS 1514:2022 Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) for Food (Second Revision) to ensure that food produced and sold in the country is safe and of high quality. This updated edition of MS 1514:2009 serves as a set of guidelines for food producers to follow, outlining crucial criteria that must be observed during food processing, including facility conditions, operations, hygiene, and transportation.
Under the Food Hygiene Regulations 2009 enforced by the Ministry of Health (MOH), all food premises involved in food manufacturing must implement a food safety assurance program, while GMP is among the most widely implemented in Malaysia, as well as in many other countries.
